Sirens' Song Gallery and Cornell Cooperative Extension Marine Program take pleasure in presenting The Merry Merfolk Parade. A goal of the event is to raise awareness of the shellfish and habitat restoration work of CCE Marine Program's Back to the Bays Initiative. Come show your support of our local waters dressed as your favorite sea creature, mermaid or pirate!
Following the parade down Front Street, there will be an award ceremony; details will be sent to registrants in advance of parade day.
Merry Merfolk will be an event within an event during Greenport Maritime Festival on Saturday, September 21, 2019. The parade is open to all (although attendance is limited to 60 participants) and will be both fun and whimsical, while helping draw attention to the importance of our marine ecosystem.
The parade will wind through the Village of Greenport and there will be an award ceremony immediately following the Parade. There will be awards for the best costume in each category.
Commemorative mugs have been developed and will be available for purchase online and at the event. Proceeds from sales will support CCE Back to the Bays Initiative!
