Another successful event for Back to the Bays in the Books! Saturday June 7th, we had the pleasure of celebrating with Borghese Vineyards launch of their 2024 Rosé for the bays, the newest addition to our collaboration with them. During this event, we also had our Release of Back to the Bay's first official field guide, Long Island Marine and Coastal Field Guide.
This field guide was created by the talented Carolyn Munaco and Hazel Wodehouse . Carolyn painted over 250 species for the field guide, and Hazel classified each organism and wrote all of the information about each species, as well as detailed descriptions of Long Island's diverse marine habitats that they can be found in. This project started during COVID-19 and was finally launched at this event. The entire Back to the Bay's team is very proud of their work, and I know the team will be using this field guide in their day to day work with Back to the Bays.

Borghese was incredible to work with us on our newest addition for Rosé for the Bay. It was wonderful to see our guests sip this delicious wine, while sitting with friends and family while enjoying the ambiance of the vineyard, and being surrounded by original artwork from the field guide.

Hazel and Carolyn spent most of their time signing field guides. It was so amazing to see all the support towards them.

Myself and Back to the Bays intern Kacy, ran the stewardship table, and encouraged guests to enroll as stewards in our Stewardship Program, to support our efforts with marine restoration and get the community involved in our work. We will always be very appreciative of our stewards for supporting us, and helping Back to the Bays grow.
The Back to the Bay's team will forever be grateful for Borghese Vineyard, as they were one of the first to collaborate with us when we were just starting up, which was 10 years ago! They continue to make incredible wines, and we are very excited to be back for our Buoy Painting parties starting this Friday, June 13th and July 11th, in preparation for our Buoys for the Bay exhibit + auction on July 17th!
