Stewardship Session: Coastal Habitat Restoration American Beachgrass
Help at Tiana Bayside Facility digging and splitting American Beachgrass for future restoration work within Southampton Town.
Cornell Cooperative Extension Marine Program's Back to the Bays Initiative will be hosting a Coastal Habitat Stewardship Session on 11/21/26 at Tiana Bayside Facility in Hampton Bays, as part of our work to help enhance and restore the coastal habitats of Southampton Town.
Help CCE staff dig and split American Beachgrass in preparation for plantings by volunteers and staff at a later date for coastal restoration projects. A good healthy planting of native beachgrass helps protect and preserve our shorelines from erosion and runoff. Dune ecosystems are considered Blue Carbon Habitats due to their abilities to sequester carbon and mitigate climate change.
*Please bring work gloves to protect your hands and dress for the outdoors!
