Help us prepare our juvenile hard clams for overwintering at our new Redwood Facility in Sag Harbor!

Cornell Cooperative Extension Marine Program's Back to the Bays Initiative will be hosting a Clam Overwintering Stewardship Session on 11/7/26 at our new Redwood Facility, as part of our work to help enhance and restore the waters of our Sag Harbor Stewardship Site.

Participants will help CCE staff to count and measure juvenile clams, and then prepare them for holding in special cages over the winter months at Redwood, Pine Neck, and Tiana Bayside Facilities.

These juvenile clams, spawned in CCE Marine's Southold hatchery, have been growing out in our floating clam cages off the docks at Redwood Facility, filter feeding on wild algae and helping to improve local water quality. They will eventually be used population enhancement projects throughout our Back to the Bays Stewardship Site Network.
